Installation problem

Can anyone help a frustrated newbie to WAMP. I've been trying to load wampserver 2 on my Windows 7 64 bit machine. I had installed the Microsoft file I was told to install - it was already installed and the process said I was repairing it.
I get the following error message towards the end of the installation:-
httpd.exe - Application error.
the application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application.

I've spent all day, playing around. After my first failure I've loaded Apache separately and successfully then PHP MySQL then removed them. I've loaded the 32 bit version of Wampserver and that seemed to load OK but I had some problems with PHP later. I removed this. I then loaded SecureWamp successfully and it appeared to work OK. I removed this and tried again with Wampserver 64 and got the same results.

You might wonder why I'm persisting since I might have a working WAMP arrangement - I'm following a tutorial that refers to Wampserver.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
