Using own MySQL server

Hi all, I just have an issue using MySQL with wamp. I understand that a MySQL database comes installed with wamp, but I need to use another MySQL database that is also local to this machine.
I'm just wondering what configurations this would require me to change in wamp for me to able to connect to my other database outside of the wamp package. Wamp appears to only partially start with its icon in the tray coloured orange.

If anyone has any advice on how to configure this correctly I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,

Paul

well first mysql isnt a database in its self.

it has databases inside it.

you would be best to EXPORT your databases from youe installed MYSQL , disabled it, and use Wamps MYSQL and import the db

if you want to get teamviewer ill guide you through it

Thanks for your quick reply, but unfortunately I use my other version of MySQL for everything but wamp, so it would make things really tricky to import the database to the wamp MySQL.

ok , then dont use wamps,

left click wamp> myqsl> service> uninstall

if your mysql is running on 3306 , then phpmyadmin wil ljust connect to that.

you will need to fill in user details in

c:\wamp\apps\phpmyadmin\config.inc.php

Ah, so it does. I must not have tested the connection after I restarted. The icon must also stay orange when one component of the system is disabled. Anyway, thanks for your help!
