phpmyadmin problems with WampServer x64 with Apache 2.4

I am having issues with phpmyadmin using WampServer x64 with Apache 2.4. For some reason, I am getting this error with phpmyadmin:
The mysqli extension is missing. Please check your PHP configuration. <a href="Documentation.html#faqmysql" target="documentation"><img src="themes/dot.gif" title="Documentation" alt="Documentation" class="icon ic_b_help" /></a>
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling WampServer by removing every single file, but I am still getting the error.
FYI I am running Windows 8.
