I just installed WAMP and now trying to connect to PHP admin.
Internet Explorer continues to say: cannot open this website.

Looking for solutions on Internet I foud the advice to install Uwamp, which I did.
And: no problem opening PHPAdmin.

What could be the reason?

The reason is that Xamp offers much more possibilities for help.
Your reply is not the help that I hoped for.

I am sorry for that.

However your question was extremely nebulous.

What colour is your wamp icon.

Red = Neither Apache or MySQL started
Orange = one of the services (Apache/MySQL) did not start
Green = all started ok.

Does the wampmanager -> localhost link run the wamp home page successfully?

If you have installed MySQL in some other way than WAMP did you remove the previous MySQL properly. Multiple versions running will cause strange errors.

In short lets have a little more specific information. Remember we are not looking over your sholder.

Hi,

Thank you for your email. In the meantime I have uninstalled WAMPP, installed XAMPP, uninstalled XAMPP, and 30 minutes ago I reinstalletd WAMPP .
Guess what happened! PHPadmin appeared without problem.
Of course I do not have any idea why.

Now I can continue my job and the job is as follows.
I am the (unexperienced) webmaster of our tennisclub and the website runs on Dreamweaver CS3 with Filezilla as connection to the domain provider.
I want to switch the site to Joomla and I want to experiment with Joomla on a test server till the new site is at least 95% equal to the present site.

It is www.tcannen.nl pretty basic but always filled with the latest news.

Thank you for your time

Best regards
Jos van Leeuwen
