WampServer

When I installed WAMP (after many uninstall/reinstalls) when I click 'Localhost' from the menu it seems to keep searching for it forever without resolve. However, if I click the IE9 browser's 'View' then 'Stop' link, and then the 'refresh' icon, the Wampserver localhost page comes up immediately. Then when I click the 'phpmyadmin' link under tools, it also comes up immediately. This is a constant (it always works like this).

Can anyone explain why it works like this or if something is wrong?

clear your browser history and set IE to "ALWAYS check for new pages"

Thanks! That worked. I already had it set to delete upon exit, but needed to set it to 'every time I visit the webpage'. Bingo!! ...but one more issue. Please read on. ...

I found WAMP via Lynda.com.

After the download I installed it and proceeded to the testing steps of 'Localhost', 'phpmyadmin', editing testmysql.php (see screenshot of modified file), and then entered [localhost]. However, when I hit enter I got an errorreport (see screenshot with orange backgrounds). However, that is not what I should get, but rather a 'connection ok' message.

Image 3 you posted, if that is your file, is wrong

You need to replace hostname with your host name which is probably localhost

Had I followed the Lynda.com tutorial instructions exactly, it would have been right from the start. Somehow I overlooked replacing 'hostname' with 'localhost'.

That was exactly my fix. Thank you Steven! You rock!
