My CPU keeps shooting to 100% . It's painfully slow to do anything in Wordpress.
I looked at my Task Manager and it's httpd.exe that's hogging the CPU
I can be idling along at around 2 to 7% CPU, (with Wampserver running) as soon as I load wordpress it shoots to 100%. Everything I do in WP causes httpd.exe to send the CPU to 100% for about 5 seconds.
So thinking the laptop may just be too old and underpowered I installed everything on another old, but not as old, laptop.
This one is also runing XP (SP3) Dual proccesor, Intel Core 2, 1.73GHz, 2GB ram
Same problem, everything I try to do in Wordpress I see "Connecting" for 5 to 10 seconds and the CPUs on both processors go to 50 to 100%
No errors in Apache error log except one about a missing favicon.ico which I doubt is the problem
Is there something I can do to speed things up or is that normal for Wamp on XP?
I disabled the single plugin I had installed and that fixed it.
Problem is, that one plugin is the only reason I installed Wordpress in the first place. It's a plugin which enables me to design and create mobile websites. It works fine on my web hosted WP install but I wanted to use it in an area where I don't have internet access so I figured Wamp was the solution.
I guess not. The plugin is obviously too large and code-heavy to run properly under Wamp
Grrrr
Thanks Steve. If you have any other suggestions to accomplish what I'm trying to do - I'm all ears
