opening php files

I just downloaded WAMP and would like to test php files.
There is a index.php file in C:\wamp\www\ I am trying to open.
I enter [localhost] but I get The Web Page cannot be found.
Can somebody please tell me what I am doing wrong.

Maybe the wamp icon is not green?
