Users, Passwords and testmysql.php

Hi

I've been using WampServer with Joomla 1.5 for a few years without problem - until now.

I recently installed WampServer 2.1 on a Windows 7 laptop and started to migrate my development site using Akeeba Backup, which is something I have done many times before. However, Akeeba could not connect to the database.

1. I tried testmysql with the correct details edited in, but still no connection.
2. Removing the users password with phpMyAdmin and setting testmysql to blank gets a connection.
3. Set any password in phpMyAdmin and I get a connection, just so long as no password is set in testmysql.
4. Set a password in testmysql and there is no connection, even if it is the correct one.

What am I missing here?

Thanks,
Adam

Hi again,

No replies yet, but I live in hope :-)

I've just tried WampServer again on my old XP laptop, following exactly the same procedure as in Windows 7, and it works correctly and predictably. If the password is correctly set in testmysql then it connects, if not then it doesn't. Akeeba connects to the DB and restores my Joomla site.

Is there a bug in WampServer 2.1e, or is there a particular Windows 7 setting?

Please, someone, give me a clue!

Adam
