WAMP2 on Win8.1 laptop, faulty Apache

Gudday all
Tonight I installed a bright shiny new WAMP2 onto my Win8.1 lap top. Full of hope I started WAMP but the icon remains orange.
It is my Apache service. I have let port 80 through the Windows firewall.
Using test Port 80 I get the message Ýour port 80 is not actually used'.
I installed the Apache service which seemed to work.
The error message in the system log says ''The wampapache service terminated with the following service-specific error: Incorrect function.'.
I have some screen shots but cannot seem to attach them.
Is there something else I need to/should do next?

I have the info that you suggest I provide. How do I present it? Do I paste into the text box (in some form of coherency) or can I attach a file?

Then there is something messed up with your network or PC

Try this, it should do no harm and may well fix things

Open a command prompt as Administrator

Run

netsh winsock reset
netsh winsock reset catalog
netsh int ip reset reset.log
netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log
netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log
ipconfig /flushdns

Reboot if necessary

Try apache again

Ahh it could also be that you have IPV6 turned off on this PC, if thats the case then do this

Edit httpd.conf using the wampmahager menus

and comment out this line

I tried the 1st set of instructions and noted that all seemed to succeed.

I tried WAMP again and saw that the icon went red for a couple of seconds before the orange.
But same message with Test port 80.
I restarted with no change

The 2nd set of instructions have me puzzled.

Edit httpd.conf using the wampmahager menus

I assume you mean wampmanager but which one? And you mean hppd.conf at C:\wamp\bin\apache\apache2.4.9\conf?

We are getting howhere like this:

Install TeamViewer and I will troubleshoot for you.

We need to organise a time that suits us both.
I am on UK time (GMT+1) and am normally available 09:00 - 16:00 and often later into the evening.

Send me a suggested time I will tell you if I can make that time, and then do the following

How to use Team Viewer:

Install TV, then run it.

Send me a Private Message containing the TV ID and PASSWORD so I can connect.
Leave TV running as it will change the password each time you restart it.

I guess you have solved it, or got frightened by the idea of someone connecting that you dont know.

Never mind, next time maybe
