WampServer

Hello, I am new to WAMP and PHP. When I try to login to phpmyadmin, it just hangs around and the browser says "waiting for localhost" and then finally just ends with a blank, white page. I set up the configuration file correctly based on a post I saw on this forum. I set up the configuration file with cookie authentication, so that I can log into phpmyadmin as user: root. I just get the blank, white page. I opened up the mysql console and was able to log in fine with the same password that I used in phpmyadmin.

I had to change the default port from 80 to 8081 since a another application is using port 80. I changed the listener in Apache as well as the phpmyadmin config.inc file to reflect these changes. I have searched over the internet as well as this forum but I am at a loss as to what's going wrong since this is new to me. Any help would be much appreciate. Thanks in advance :-)
