Wamp online - Port Forwarding

Ok so I've looked at ALOT of topics in this forum trying to solve my problem and I did try a tutorial by "stevenmartin99" and saw him reply to several topics as well but no matter what I do I just can't get my website go online, just locally. Comcast is my ISP and they pretty much block everything cause they suck...so I'm thinking port 80/8080/8180 are all blocked ports...I have tried them all but none of them have worked. I do have a No-IP.com domain registered with Port 80 Redirect. I have a screenshot of my Router's Port Forward Page along with some details of changed values in my httpd.conf. Hope you guys can help me out!

Thanks,
Andrew

One of our group members is running comcast now and has no problem w/ port 80 or any other port at all since we're using ftp, ssl, webdav, so on; besides, from my personal experience through installing wamp and setup websites on a lot of computers, Linksys is much more expensive, not friendly setup GUI, not compatible w/ other wireless devices and never has a chance to get it free after MIR; therefore, I never recommend it to anybody :-(

I'm personally using netgear as seen here

Thanks again for your reply, yfastud. So do you think there is any chance of Forwarding Port 80 through Linksys? I mean I've had this router for about 2-3 years now and don't really have money for a new one...I know they are pretty cheap like $50-$90 but my family is in a bit of a financial bind right now so getting a router at this time is kind of...stupid. But any tutorials or anything on tweaking my router so I can forward the right ports would be great.

Best regards,
Andrew

it should be possible. but sometimes the only thing u cant do is view your website on the pc running it.. fi you try u will only get the router configuration page.

made model is the linskeys?

is wamp working on localhost?
what port is apache running on?

what is the ip of the computer?

check htt p://canyouseeme.org to see if port 80 is blocked.

stevenmartin99, thanks for reply:

linksys model: wrt54g version 2.0
is wamp working on localhost?: yes
apache port: 8080
ip of computer: 76.31.227.46
canyouseeme.org port 80 check: blocked (Reason: Connection timed out)
canyouseeme.org port 8080 check: blocked (Reason: Connection timed out)
canyouseeme.org port 8180 check: blocked (Reason: Connection timed out)

When I use 76.31.227.46:80 I am automatically redirected to my Linksys router configuration but when I use 8080 or 8180 it does not. So those are the two I am trying to work with but they arn't working.

I havn't seen anything about an internal IP but yes I have been using both 1 and 4 because I saw them both in my dos window after typing in ipconfig. I got a screenshot of my router's status page and ipconfig.

But then I just noticed my Ipv4 was actually 192.168.1.104 not 192.168.1.4...so I'll be deleting those 4 values I have on my Port Forward Page.

goto dos

type in ipconfig
copy it and paste it up here

this internal ip is the most most critical number... it how the router talks to the computer

Hi, I am a newbee and having the same problem. I can see my website locally but not online. wamp server is online. My isp was not allowing port 80, hence I am using 8080. I am using router port fowarding. I used canyouseeme.org to confirm port 8080 is not blocked.

Can you share the fix that worked for you. Any help pl...

Thanks

$50 for a router is expensive, not cheap. I've got my Netgear router free after $20 MIR; anyway, glad you figured out at last

@ praresh
basically, use dos prompt to check your lan ip, then in router forward port 80 to that ip; check my guide here to get the idea

Hi, Thanks for the response. I followed the same steps that you and steve have in your guides. Not much luck yet. Here are my config information -

- I am using WAMPServer 2.0. wamp is online.
- This is my ipconfig -
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.3
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.1

- I have more than 1 pc connected to the router. Hence created static ip (192.168.2.3) for the pc in which I have wamp.
- Using Belkin router, port fowarding from 8080 to 80. Default port # 80 was either blocked per canyouseeme.org. Here is the port forwarding info

Enable Description Inbound port Type Private IP address Private port
Photo 8080 8080 TCP 192.168.2.3 80 80

- Restarted router, pc after making this change.
- Tested using canyouseeme.org for port 8080. It displays message "I can see your service on 68.82.152.238 on port (8080). Your ISP is not blocking port 8080"
- Disabled xp firewall.
- Temp disabled NIS personal firewall for testing.
- Tested [68.82.152.238] from firefox 3. I get the message "Failed to Connect". If I dont specify the port8080, it takes me to the router home page.

Couldnt figure out what I am missing sad smiley Help pl........

this is an issue with ur router . working fine from my side . i can see your wamp index page. alot of routers have this issue

they look at the outgoing request and realise the ip addrress your looking for is itself so never bothers to send it. and u end up in the router..

some people get around this problem by using port 81 for apache.. as the router pages user 80 too

but well done on getting it set up. i know its a pain that you cant see it but it is up on online

try from a different pc or mobile phone not connected thru that router to see it

Thanks a lot Steve. I tried through my mobile and was able to see the page.

Instead of seeing the wamp index page, how can I directly redirect to a project page using ip:port.

well ip:port will just show the index.php in the www folder- so change this file to your main page.

or if your project is in c:/wamp/www/folder1 then ip:port/folder1 will show it

i suggest you goto NO IP and download it and set up a free url just to make it easier.

then you can use [yoursite.noip.org]
