Problem accessing MySql from PhpMyAdmin on WAMP 2.1

I downloaded the WAMP 2.1 yesterday and installed it with all the defaults.
when I click the phpMyAdmin, i get the following error;
#1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)
since I didn't change the password for mySQL (still blank), I don't know what the problem is.
[localhost] and mysql console works. [localhost] displays the page where I can click on phpMyAdmin or SQLbuddy links.
SQLbudy works but not phpMyAdmin.
I am just learning php and mysql and would appreciate any help to resolve this issue.

never mind. I got pisssed off fucking with it and uninstalled wamp.
then I installed XAMPP and everything worked as it should.
