WAMP worked for months, one day lock icon and can't access remotely

Anybody know what the lock icon means? I had been running wamp for 6+ months and one day I could no longer access the server from anywhere except the local computer. After hours of digging I found that the permissions to my root folder on my server (as specified in httpd.conf) had been changed to deny permissions to everyone except localhost.

I did not make this change, have not changed anything on wamp in months, and I am the exclusive server admin. Is there a virus that is known to change wamp settings? The server is back to working but the lock icon persists. I have not installed any new antivirus software (just running Microsoft security essentials and malwarebytes) and was not familiar with this permissions setting before, ruling out having changed it myself while blackout drunk :p

Note this is a slightly older version of wamp 2... I needed mysql <5.3 for Drupal.
Help!!!!!!!!!!

Again, just to update, I have since been able to access wamp remotely by changing the httpd.conf file root folder permissions to "Allow from all"... so I guess I just need to know 1) what is the lock icon and 2) does someone have a back door into my system?!!! =/

edit: also, wamp server says "offline" even though it works!
