I downloaded the 32bit version of wamp 2.5 but I get this error "C:\wamp\bin\apache2.4.9\bin\httpd.exe is not a valid win32 application" during and after the installation. Why is this happening, this it the first time I've gotten this message from a wamp installation.

I'm currently running win XP service pack 3 with most of its updates.

As noted on the WAMPServer homepage, just above the download links. WAMPServer 2.5 is not compatible with Windows XP, not even SP3.

This is not specifically a WAMPserver limitation, its because the Apache/MySQL and PHP exe's are now compiled with MSCV2012 and therefore requires the MSVC 2012 Runtime library. Unfortunately this runtime will not run on Windows XP. I am afraid XP is now almost dead.

You will have to install WAMPServer 2.4 as this is the last version that had these executables compiled with MSVC 2009
