Hey guys,

As you can tell, I'm new smiling smiley I need some help with WampServer. Let me put it in a simple way:

I have WAMP Running fine smiling smiley
I have a domain bought for my website.
I have researched a lot about virtual host and all that stuff.

I NEED TO CONNECT MY HOSTING TO THE DOMAIN I BOUGHT.

If its simple, please tell me.

What I have done so far:

The domain is hooked with name servers which is through my IP Address.
So basically, the domain has a name server which is ns1.checkoutchicago.net with my IP attached to it.
Also, the domain has a backup name server which is ns2.checkoutchicago.net with my IP attached to it.

I have tried creating virtual hosts and dyndns.com; but, I am very frustrated with it. I hope as soon as someone teaches me how to connect this domain with my hosting on WAMP server, I can make an awesome video tutorial explaining every step.

I look forward to helping others save a lot of money smiling smiley

If you are trying to help me, please use 123.45.67.89 as an example IP address. Also, the name server is ns1.checkoutchicago.net and ns2.checkoutchicago.net.

I hope I can receive some help regarding this issue. Please do not point me to any other forum; because, most likely, I have checked it out already.

THANKS,
Owningbro2

In order to access from other PC's no matter within or outside your LAN, you need to setup Access, DNS, and VH; Access for permission to connect to your WAMP PC, DNS to tie Domain(s) to your WAMP PC, and VH to host multiple Domains/Websites/IP's and even you have only 1 Domain/Website/IP, you should use VH to set it up w/ the site you want to show up first on top and localhost on bottom and others in middle if having more than 1 site; if dont have real Domain, just skip DNS guide

To setup Access, follow this

To setup VH, follow this

Hey,

I looked at that, but I still can't figure it out.

I have been to your other forums, do you think you can show me some other way? like teamviewer or gmail or something?

Thanks,

Okay here is what I did.

First of all, I wanted to show you the files I have so please go to this site [www.dropbox.com] and login with the information i provided you through a private message (pm) on here.

Next, to explain what is in there:

IN the main folder there is E Drive & a C Drive.

The E Drive represents where I installed WAMP Server,
it has the host file from that drive: C:/windows/system32/drivers/etc/host,
also, in the E drive folder is, httpd.conf file that the apache uses.
also, in the E drive folder there is an extra folder, which is the C:\wamp\bin\apache\Apache2.2.17\conf\extra\httpd-vhosts.conf

in the E drive, wamp server is not installed but there is a host file in there.

Can you please help me out on the following?

My domain name is www.checkoutchicago.net
My domain nameservers are ns1.checkoutchicago.net & ns2.checkoutchicago.net

Please, help me ! smiling smiley

P.S. Also, I am unable to access my localhost but I can access www/ folder through my ip address which is from cmyip & a different one through ipconfig in cmd prompt, and a different ip from my host file. Thanks,

Huh??? So where is exactly you install Wamp? Anyway, as long as your wamp tray icon is not yellow or red color and you follow those guides precisely, it has to work. Only look will not help winking smiley

Sorry, my bad...

instead of this:

in the E drive, wamp server is not installed but there is a host file in there.

it should be this:

in the C drive, wamp server is not installed but there is a host file in there.
