PHP file type

WAMP2 server loaded, php v5.3.0 included. Problem: When I save as .php, computer says unknown file type... Not much info, but what am I doing wrong?

Nothing. It's unknown to a program to use it .

If u need to edit the file ,

Right click> open with...> choose default

And select notepad.



If you want to run the file

Make sure the php file is in c:\wamp\www

Open Internet explorer and goto http:/ /localhost/filename.php

Thanks. I can open the file in notepad++(the wamp\www\index.php file is in French, btw) but cannot open it with localhost (I'm using firefox 3.6.1). I've seen tutorials that show the php file icon with a little php in a banner, with this: </> in the 'page' of the icon. I'm totally new to php and servers in general (i do a bit of html/css coding). I appreciate any help I can get right now.

use notepad++ to save your php files; otherwise, make sure your php files dont have hidden .txt extension
