Cant get wamp to work...desperate!

Hello to all!

Ive downloaded wamp, installed it etc and no problems.

My problem is when I start it up, it shows up on my list of tray icons on my start menu, but it shows red.

Im not running skype. I've closed all my other applications. Still doesnt work.

Have I missed something? Have I skipped a step in setting up Wamp?

Im running xp service pack 3 - for interest sake.

make sure no other program conflict wamp such as iis, skype, zonealarm, firewall/antivirus, nod32, eset, any web related program ...

IIS and Apache/Wamp are both web server and might conflict in some way, so you have to disable IIS in order for Wamp to work

Disable IIS in Vista/W7:

Control Panel, Uninstall Programs, Turn Widows Features On or Off, uncheck Internet Information Services

Disable IIS in XP:

Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Add/Remove Windows Components, uncheck Internet Information Services (IIS)

Restart computer, then restart Wamp

Also, in folder C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etc, open file hosts and delete anything in this file and have only this line below and nothing else

127.0.0.1 localhost

if using skype, open skype > tools>options>advanced>connection uncheck "use port 80..." restart wamp then skype

Thanks for the reply.

I tried all those suggestions, still isn't working.

IIS was already disabled, Windows Firewall was off, not running Skype and don't have any other web based programs running.

I also tried clearing that 'host' file and leaving only "127.0.0.1 localhost" - with no luck.

Any other suggestions?
