Doesn't work on all browsers???

Hey everybody,

I installed wampserver to use for joomla some time ago, and everything was working fine.

Last week all of a sudden, I couldn't open my localhost on my preferred browser (firefox)... The icon was white, I have no interference on port 80. After a day of trying to get it started with a few times reinstalling, I tried to open the localhost on Internet Explorer and to my surprise it worked there, while firefox kept on giving me the 404!

I tried my other browsers, and I could also open it on Safari and Chrome, so I was totally happy off course!

In firefox I cleaned the history, cache, cookies, etc. but still it didn't work. Today I tried to open it on Internet Explorer and now it didn't work on this one, but now it works in Firefox again...

I don't understand anything about this! Does anybody know what's going on (I'm not that super technical)??? Well, as long as it's at least working on one of my browsers, it's fine, but I'm just wondering!

Thanks!

Make sure no other program conflict wamp such as iis, skype, zonealarm, firewall/antivirus, nod32, eset, any web related program ...

IIS and Apache/Wamp are both web server and might conflict in some way, so you have to disable IIS in order for Wamp to work

Disable IIS in Vista/W7:

Control Panel, Uninstall Programs, Turn Widows Features On or Off, uncheck Internet Information Services

Disable IIS in XP:

Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Add/Remove Windows Components, uncheck Internet Information Services (IIS)

Restart computer, then restart Wamp

Also, in folder C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etc, open file hosts and delete anything in this file and have only this line below and nothing else

127.0.0.1 localhost

If using skype, open skype > tools>options>advanced>connection uncheck "use port 80..." restart wamp then skype
