After assinging a password to root within phpMyAdmin when I try to login I am getting.

#1251 - Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client

and also i am getting.

"Cannot load mcrypt extension. Please check your PHP configuration." eventhough I have checked the PHP extensions php_mcrypt

Any help will be appreciated .

Yes... I did check the php_mcrypt. I just skipped step 12 which was optional.

Here is my setup...
Apache 2.0.52
PHP 4.3.9
mySQL 4.1.20
phpMyAdmin 2.11.10

Since my first post I have restored the backup copy of the wamp folder. I am back to square one. phpMyAdmin works with no password.

Am I missing something?

Thanks for your response

after enable php_mcrypt through wamp tray icon, you have to refresh the browser and should not see that error again

I have restarted the "All Services" from the wamp tray and restart the browser several times. I will go through the steps again and see what happens.

Thank you for you quick response

I have gone through the steps once again. I even restarted my workstation, I cannot get rid of the message "Cannot load mcrypt extension."

Any ideas?

it seems like I need "libmcrypt.dll" for Windows for PHP 4.3.9

Can that be correct?

PHP 4.3.9???

wamp2i comes w/ php 5.3; if using older version, you might have to download and install older phpmyadmin
