php.ini per directory

My webhost is setup to automatically scan subdirectories for additional php.ini files.
Is there a way to do the same with WAMP?

I have several sites in development on localhost, so I need directory-specific ini settings.

Wow - I never would have guessed it was an OS issue.

I've looked everywhere and never found any help along those lines, so thank you so much!

actually, it's not os issue but you have to build your own wamp if you want it since it's auto built for *nix, but not auto for win
