WampServer

Hi there

I have just started to learn PHP and the first thing i am told to do is get a local server, which i am unable to get working. I see there are many other people with the same problem, and i have followed much of the advice given but i am still unable to load "localhost".

I am using Windows XP Pro.
The Wampserver icon is white, but does not have the padlock in the middle.
I have unticked the "use port 80" option for Skype. I have also closed Skype.
I have changed Apache to run/listen to port 8080
According to Apache my "port 80 is not actually used"

I was wondering if any of the following could be causing the problem....
I am using Gtalk
I am currently linked to a MySQL db on JustHost, using Access (ODBC). I also access this data through the JustHost phpMyAdmin menu option.


I have been struggling with this for hours now. please can you help.
