Linking to existing MySql install?

I am looking to run phpMyAdmin designer to I can see table relationships on a database I am analyzing. WampServer looks like it can work for me. I am runing Windows XP Pro and installed WampServer, shut down skype to remove the port 80 conflict (I know I can reconfig skype but we have limited ports open to the world) and have it running fine.

I now want to link it my existing MySql install. I know I can download [downloads.sourceforge.net] but that says it will install mySql 5.1.32 when I already have it installed. Is there any way to link to this existing install? I could not find a way in the faq ot forum but perhaps different terminology is used.

Thanks, Tom.

Thanks for the info. However, MySql is running on my machine as a service, v32, but wampserver only shows v36

When I open the Mysql console via wampserver (c:\wamp\bin\mysql\mysql5.1.36\bin\mysql.exe) and do a select version() it says 5.1.32-community

Not sure why I would setup a new mysql install root password, etc, though I guess that's easy to do...I have many mysql databases, thought right now I am only interested in 1.

But I just set the password in C:\wamp\apps\phpmyadmin3.2.0.1config.inc.php and one click I am into phpMyAdmin with my existing mySql databases. I guess this is what you meant!

Fantastic software!!

once the wamp icon is yellow that means mysql on wmap is not running beacusae another mysql engine is using port 3306

Sounds good, thanks for help. I got this working to access the designer feature of phpmyadmin but when I opened the tab there were no relationships shown :-(

phpmyadmin has linking of tables disabled

there is a message at the bottom of the screen on the main page

press it and it will tell you what needs to be changed in the config.inc.php

Thanks for that.. I have all setup as expected and did not see the designer tab until it was setup correctly. Anyway, we are off topic :-)
