WampServer

Hi,

I'm running Win XP (I know it's outdated) and looking for a way to get a WampServer install with PHP 5.1.3. I need this version in particular because it's the one that's run on the french “Pages Perso Free” servers.

So I was looking for some information on what version of WampServer I should install. I already know I have no chance to get 2.5 running on my good ol' XP. I made rather intensive search but couldn't find accurate enough information about:

- what Apache version is compatible with PHP 5.1.3 (I guess it's somewhere between 1.3 and 2.2)
- what WampServer version is compatible with the Apache version I need
- what's the proper way to add Apache and PHP versions to WampServer

(Edit) Also, I found .iss files on the WampServer SourceForge repo, but I don't know how to use them. A short explanation would be welcome

Looks like a lot of pages were removed from the official website at some time. That's regrettable. The WampServer soft and its community are both awesome and deserve some solid FAQ or wiki.

Les dernières versions Apache (Depuis Apache 2.2.20), PHP (depuis PHP 5.3.0) et MySQL sont compilées VC 9, VC10 ou VC11 et sont totalement incompatibles avec les anciennes versions PHP compilées VC6. (C'est pourquoi les anciens addons ne sont plus directement accessibles).
Il faut éventuellement utiliser une ancienne version Wampserver, comme la version 2.0a qui comprend Apache 2.2.6, PHP 5.2.5 et MySQL 5.0.45

Ok. C'est pas simple… Merci Free.

J'ai d'autres sites en test et je n'ai pas envie de jongler entre différentes versions de WampServer (si d'ailleurs c'est possible). Je crois que je vais m'en tenir à une installation de PHP 5.3 en local, avec coups d'œil à la doc pour savoir si c'est compatible 5.1 ou pas.

Du coup, est-ce que je peux faire tourner PHP 5.3 sur un Apache 2.4 ou est-ce que je dois ajouter Apache 2.2 ?
Et aussi, est-ce que je vais devoir utiliser ces mystérieux fichiers .iss ?

Juste par curiosité : y a-t-il eu également un changement dans le process de compilation de PHP sous Linux ? Ça expliquerait en partie pourquoi ils n'ont pas fait la migration chez Free…

PHP 5.3 peut tourner sans problème avec Apache 2.4.9 et même avec Wampserver 2.5 (Voir ma signature).

I started the thread in English so let's end this conversation in English.

For people who came here from some searching, I'll put a conclusion to the topic:
I'm giving up with PHP 5.1.3. I made my mind and decided this version is too old, and I don't want to mess with my current WampServer install.

Some rumors are spreading that Lionel Bernardi, the new manager of Free pages perso, is working on upgrading to PHP 5.5. (I read this here : [additifstabac.free.fr] )

One last quetion: is it possible to get PHP 5.5 running on WampServer 2.4?

Yes, but not on Windows XP. XP is not compatible with the VC11 packages and all versions of PHP 5.5.x are compiled VC11.
