Port 80 problems

Hi...

Wamp wouldn't start this morning - Port 80 unavailable. Spent hours here (and everywhere else) trying to figure it out.

Nothing. Running the Apache Test Port 80 says:

Information not available (might be Skype).

Skype is not running. Netstat shows no entry for Port 80 in TCP 0.0.0.0 and TCP 127.0.0.1

Have restarted the system several times...

Any ideas?

Cheers,

JJ

Very weird...

Now working...

1/ Edited httpd.conf to Port 81. Restarted Wamp
- No luck

2/ Over-installed Wamp.
-No luck

3/ Restarted system. Started Wamp
- Port 81 working. Port 80 not in use by any program but dead to Wamp. Same message as in post above.

4/ Started Skype.
- Netstat confirmed Skype's on Port 80 and Wamp (httpd.exe) is on 81

5/ Exited Skype. Exited Wamp. Rebooted system. Changed httpd.conf back to Port 80
- Wamp (httpd.exe) now working fine on Port 80.

Guess it was running Skype again and then exiting it that freed up whatever was blocking Port 80. But can't figure what it could have been... as i'd done several reboots and shut downs inbetween...

you can run both skype and wamp by open skype... tools, options, connection . and uncheck "use port 80 as alternative" then restart wamp

Yes... i know that option is there... it was just weird that though i rebooted several times and Skype was not running, Port 80 was 'blocked' without being used by any other process...

I know you've talked alot about Skype (i had the same problem and just closing skype and restarting WAMP fixed it)

that being said sounds like you've tried alot and i just posted to another site about googling "Windows Live OneCare" than click on "Help" than "Safety Scanner" and do a port scan... I also am aware there are "fancier" sites todo this on but they don't' catch everything. I've used them before and they said "Closed" and when i did a livecare scan it would find something accessing port 80... so give it a try if you want its also a great registry cleaner. if you're on a windows machine.
