Which Apache Version to Use?

Greetings All,

I am new here, and am just getting ready to try WampServer, but I have a quick question.

My host has the following installed ...
Apache version 1.3.41 (Unix)
PHP version 5.2.5
MySQL version 4.1.22-standard

Obviously, I want to try to emulate my host as closely as possible. After looking at the Add-ons here, I can see that both - MySQL 4.1.22 and - PHP 5.2.5 are available for download. However, it appears that the Apache 1.3x version stops at - Apache 1.3.39 and then jumps to - Apache 2.0.49

Should I use - Apache 1.3.39 or - Apache 2.0.49, or should I try to locate Apache version 1.3.41 somewhere else.

Thanks in Advance for the Quick Response,
Zar

apache 1.3 is very old.

there has been major updates since then,
you shud use 2.0 or newer and possibly email ur host to update too as php and mysql newer version rely on 2.0x +

Hi Steven,

Thanks for the quick response.

OK, I will contact my host and ask them if they have any plans to uprade Apache, but in the meantime, which version should I use on my WampServer installation if I want it to be as close as possible to what they are using?

Hi Steve,

OK, I took your advice. I have a pretty good host. Our server wasn't yet scheduled for software upgrades. Because of this, they have migrated us to a new server and now we have newer versions ...
Apache version 2.0.63
PHP version 5.2.8
MySQL version 5.0.67-community

So, now, I need to go back and ask my original question, only with different parameters.

Obviously, I want to try to emulate my host as closely as possible. After looking at the Add-ons here, I can see that both Apache version 2.0.63 and PHP version 5.2.8 are available for download. However, it appears that the MySql 5.0x version stops at- MySQL 5.0.51b and then jumps to - MySQL 5.1.30. In other words, version 5.0.67 is not available for download here.

Should I use MySQL 5.0.51b or MySQL 5.1.30, or should I try to locate 5.0.67-community somewhere else.

Thanks in Advance for the Quick Response,
Zar

don't look at it that way, but your host have apache 2, mysql 5 and php 5, so basically you can download the latest wamp here ;-)

Hi yfastud and Steven,

Thanks for the quick help. I will take your advices. I have already downloaded the latest WampServer, and I will also download the MySQL 5.051b

You can close this thread now, if you do things like that here.

Great Support,
Zar
