I had Wamp 2.0 (unsure which version but it had Php 5.2.5 and MySQL 5.0.45
I upgraded to wamp 2.0 version f by stopping all services and exiting it. Then I ran the installer, started wamp again
Now when I try to run phpmyadmin I find that I get access denied.
I noticed that my phpmyadmin previous was 2.10.1 and now there is a new one in the app folder 3.1.1

I am still pretty newish to this so how can I get access back? Or do I need to uninstall the whole thing, delete all the files and reinstall it?

I had the same kind of problems and for me it was solved by including a line in the config.inc.php file that appears to be missing... see also [forum.wampserver.com]

So check whether the line:

$cfg['Servers'][$i]['AllowNoPasswordRoot'] = true;

exists in the file named "config.inc.php" located in C:\wamp\apps\phpmyadmin3.1.1.
