WampServer

Error writing to registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\WampServer 2_is1

RegSetValueEx failed; code 5


Please help me~

Ok the good news is that WAMPServer only puts information into the registry so that its uninstall can be run from 'Add Remove Programs' so this should not stop you running WAMPServer.

Tha bad news is that it might means there is something wrong with your Registry! I doubt if this probelm was caused by WAMPServer but I think you should consider checking your registry

I am having the same error. I ran the scan, it said found and repaired errors and still can not install wamp. Is there another way of installing this software without the registry entry? or a fix or workaround?

Fix/Workaround Sorry we do not provide fixes or workarounds for a damaged registry! If you cannot find a tool that will fix your registry I am afraid you may be looking at a full reinstall of windows.


One thing you could try is installing wamp on another PC ( on the same drive you want to install it on this PC ) i.e. to C:\wamp if that where you want it.


You could then copy the C:\wamp folder from one PC to another.

Run \wamp\wampmanager.exe

On the wampmanager icon in the system tray do

wampmanager -> MySQL -> Service -> Install Service
wampmanager -> Apache -> Service -> Install Service
wampmanager -> Start All Services

I have not actually tried it, but it should work.

It's an offline computer from work (leftover from recent upgrade). I'll try bringing my home installed folder on a cd next Monday. Thanks for the idea, hope it works.
