WampServer

Hello everyone. I recently installed WAMP server to my personal computer today but whenever I entered in "[localhost"]; or "[127.0.0.1"]; in the browser bar, the local host page don't load. I am using Mozilla Firefox as my internet browser and all the services are running. What am I doing wrong? Please help me with any suggestions. Thank you and have a nice day.

what's the error message in firefox?

Never see one. Just a blank screen which the word "loading" appears in the tab of the page.

yesterday installed WAMP for the first time, and I'm facing the same problem with same details! please any help

disconnect internet, uninstall firewall, try again; if work, then reinstall firewall, and also make sure IIS is not running

Thanks yfastud for your fast replay, well .. before i read you answer i installed another OS in different partition of my hard disk and first thing i installed the WAMP and it run like a charm, thanks again for your replay,
i have another question! in regard to your replay if i reinstall the firewall does WAMP stop work again?

if install after wamp, it should allow wamp to run or at least prompt for permission grant

I am new to this! When loading http//localhost i get an error http 404 not found. Windows - explorer. Can any one help

what color of your wamp tray icon?

It is white with a little black square in the middle. I have selected "restart all services"

Thanks Yfastud I have solved the problem. I closed down Skype and all seems to be working

Setup Skype to use different port so you can use both Skype and wamp.

Setup skype using different port as follows File -> Options -> Connection -> Uncheck “Use port 80 as an alternative for…”

Hey all,

I have the pleasure of getting the task to set up a wiki despite I never worked with anything like PHP, Apache, MySQL etc. Never mind, on the pc of my predecessor a lot of stuff seems all set, which means that Wampserver 2.0 already is installed and working. I have a white + red Tray icon (little bit of red on the left side). I tried to enter [localhost], but the I-net Explorer shows only: The page can not be displayed. As I read in this forum that this might have to do with the ports, I used the Apache Service Test port 80, result: Your port 80 is not actually used.

It's an XP System with no Skype running. I reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllly would appreciate any tipps which might help me to locate possible origins of the problem and get it fixed.

Sorry to be rude but if you want to ask questions about your problem, post your own thread. This thread was supposed to help my problem, not others, and my issue have not been solved yet. By the way, I tested port 80 and it says it is being used. How could I check to see what program is running at that port?

Sorry, I thought your problem would have been solved because of all the other posts after yours.. I'll open a new thread.

from dos prompt, run this command

netstat -aon

then check line that have por 80, for example:

TCP 0.0.0.0:80 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING 832

then go to task Manager to check the PID of 832 and terminate it if it'w not wamp

i have the same problem (the OP mentioned)
i checked and the 80 port is used by wamp

but i have missing dll's that appeared when i finished installing wamp

any soloutions for that?

if that port already used by wamp, you might have corrupted installer, so uninstall wamp, delete wamp folder, reinstall wamp
