Installing WAMP

I'd like to install WAMP and Joomla! to have a go at creating my own website. I don't really understand much about them yet, but I would be installing them on my work laptop, which runs on Windows XP Professional v5.1, service pack 2. I have administrastor rights.

As it is my work laptop and not my own, I'm a bit worried about doing anything that could affect its main settings. Can anyone advise me whether I should be concerned about this or not?

Many thanks for any assistance you can give.
