hi! I am pretty much a newbie with everything. I just installed wampserver to use for CMS Made Simple, an open source content management system. it requires me to create a database with the localhost using mysql or sqlite. the problem is, i can create a new database but i don't know the password and username for the cms to access it.
i hope someone could enlighten me.
thanks!

Hi,

As you noticed, the installation of a Content Management System prompts for a username and password so that the installation process can create its tables in a database.

After you have created the database, you need create a username and give it a password, then add a host 'localhost' under this user. You will then need to assign the privileges to access the new, empty database to the combination of the new username and localhost.

Now you can continue with the installation of your Content Management System, give it the hostname 'localhost' and the username and password of the MySQL user to whom you gave access rights to the database.

Hi,

Back to the basics then. Have you had a look at [dev.mysql.com] ? The article 'Getting Started With MySQL' shows how to use the mysql and other commands from the command line, a skill not to be ignored. You may want to learn how to use phpMyAdmin, or install MySQL Administrator GUI from [mysql.com]. It is also among the addons for WAMP. One elegant product worth looking at is SQLyog from [webyog.com]. The Community Editions of both MySQL Administrator and SQLyog are free.

You can also do a search on this forum for 'mysql create user'. After you click 'Search', click 'Click here to return to the search screen' and you will see a few previous posts about the topic.

I've just finish updating Setup WAMP and Setup Password on my websites.

Hope that I would finish Setup MySQL Database by tomorrow

Compare to MySQL sites or results from google, my guide is much easier for new wamp users because it shows step by step w/ illustrated images, especially they are created for this particular wamp package
