WampServer

I've been using version 2.2 for quite a while now. Just checked and found out that 2.4 is available. So, my question is, shall I upgrade?

I saw people complaining of version 2.4 using too much RAM. I wouldn't really like to have to deal with this issue.

And, most importantly, how is the upgrade done? I have quite a few projects and more importantly databases that I don't want to lose. I know I can copy the WWW folder but how do I preserve the database? Just copy the /wamp/bin/mysql/mysql5.5.16/data folder somewhere else and then paste it back?
