Hey folks,

I am trying to install Joomla 2.5 or Joomla 3.x everything works fine for few steps but after coming on specific step where it creates database it got stuck the steps are as listed below:
- Step 1 - Main Configuration screen - this step works (Y)
- Where I put my site title
- Where I put my site description
- Where I put admin email
- Where I put admin password
- Where I put admin confirmation password
- NEXT!

- Step 2 - Database Configuration
- Where I put host name
- Where I put database user's name
- Where I put database users' password
- Where I put database name
- Where I put database prefix
- NEXT!

- Step 3 - Finalisation
- Where I check is evrything alright or should I have to make any changes if any changes are required you can go back and change it again and click next to come this step
- INSTALL

- Step 4 - Installing (the pain step)
- it get stuck here when it create database table (previously it wasn't deleting the old database table but this time it deleted the old database table and creating new tables).

That's problem for now if anyone could help me or need more details please reply its kinda a urgent for me.

Does the user you specify in step 2 have permissions to create tables?

I have just tried this using WAMP 2.4 and installing Joomla 2.5.13

I got the same situation i.e. the database creation step left the screen with the spinning circle.

If you look in the Apache error log you will see 'Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded' so if you also get this make this change:

Edit php.ini and change this parameter

max_execution_time = 60

60 seconds worked for me.

If this still is not enough, try 90 then 120 and so on.

Look in your 'php error log' and or 'apache error log' or 'apache access log' for information on why it is erroring?

Post that back here if you cannot see what to do about it.

What about the apache access log.

There is nothing wrong with that file, apart from installing wamp into a folder called 'Locahost' and I dont think that would cause anything other than confusion.

Install TeamViewer and I will troubleshoot for you.

Install TV, then run it.

Do this before attempting a connection.

How to Configure Team Viewer so it does not require port 80 or 443

Run TV
Extras -> Options -> Advanced -> Press the Advanced Button -> Advanced Network Connections

Check the checkbox saying [ Dont use incomming port 80 (recommended for web servers only ) ]
Stop and restart TV.

Then
Send me a Private Message containing the TV ID and PASSWORD so I can connect.
Leave TV running as it will change the password each time you restart it.

Does that mean you have fixed it? Or do you want to try a Team Viewer Troubleshooting session?

Glad to be of help,

RE: Your Magento installation issues.

I guess you have not read the installation instructions provided by the Magento site.
Specifically the part about Magento not liking being installed on localhost!

I had no problems when I installed it but I did it in a 'virtual host', but then I do everything in a virtual host as its a much better imitation of an actual environment of the domain that you may eventually copy your developed sites to,

Anyway have a look at this post, [forum.wampserver.com] on how to setup virtual hosts.
I would ignore the message from Steve for now, as the jury is still out on whether thats a good or bad idea.

Create yourself a vhost to install magento into and see if that solves some of your problems.

PS. I would ignore that bit about needing the APC caching extension. During development that may cause as many issues as it solves. It may run a little slower but after all you are just experimenting/developing and it can always be installed later.

Edit php.ini

Use the menus on wampmanager so you edit the correct file.

Look for the parameter

max_execution_time

it is probably set to 30, chnage it to 90 like this

max_execution_time = 90

Restart Apache and try the install again.

Once the install is complete change it back to 60
