allowing the short <? tag

I have turn the short_open_tag = On in the php.ini file, but my programs will still only read the long tag. I have tried this on two different computers. So I must have missed something or did something wrong. Yes I shut down and restarted the apache servers.

after you edit your php.ini file you need to make sure you restart apache for the new settings to take effect. also make sure you edit the correct file:
c:\wamp\apache\bin\php.ini
