Localhost is not listing directories

I've been running and using Wamp for a while and everything worked flawlessly until yesterday.

I manually started Wamp but I was unable to access my localhost due to an error. I assumed this had to do with some incompatibility due to the ever-increasing patches and fixes that windows installs all the time, so proceeded to remove my installation and download and install the latest version but upon running my new Wamp version all I get while on 'localhost' is:

()

'); } else echo ""; ?>
'.$rep.' '.$ouvre_dossier.'
$txt_no_projet

Any ideas as to why is this happening?

do you have any htaccess file(s) in C:/wamp/www/ and/or C:/wamp/www/herman? are you using mod_rewrite?

Nope. There is no htaccess files in the root.

The 'herman' directory was deleted when I did the uninstall/ reinstall process, although, apparently some config files were kept.

As for mod-rewrite, I don't think am using it since I don't know what it is or what it does! ;o)

Any recommendations?

do you have or have you ever installed EasyPHP. It ia a package like WAMP. there have been many posts here about people having problems using WAMP after uninstalling EasyPHP. Seesm when you uninstall EasyPHP, it does not do a complete uninstall and leaves a few things arround that cause problems with WAMP.

No!

The only add-ons I ever did installed are:

Apache2

Optimizer

PHP 4.3.1

and that's it.

Do you think that if I uninstall, delete each file and folder left manually and then deleting any reference from the registry manually might help me overcome this?

Do I risk anything by deleting keys referring to WAMP on my system's registry?
