no, localhost only accesses your local computer. so, when you access localhost you are accessing your computer. when you have a friend try to access localhost, they will be accessing their computer. you need to use your ip address.

[your.ip.address.here]

if you do not know what your ipaddress is, check out www.whatismyipaddress.com

I got the same problem. Using a router tho but have set the option that port 80 requests are forwarded to my pc running WAMP. Even setting this pc in DMZ doesnt work.

As most firewalls are trying to block port 80 (the default http-port) try change the listening ports in the apache.conf to for example 8000. Restart the services and see if you can connect to apache by using [yourip]

Worked for me partialy as i could see the wamp start up page, but couldnt connect to any of the projects. Still need some work to do on that bit..

Lucas,
there can be couple of reasons why your friends cannot get to that page:

1 Firewall.

By firewall I mean that you may be behind a network that doesnt allow port 80 or your machine acting as a web server. Your ISP may have some thing like that setup to block it. Even if you change the port to something else it may still block you.
You can go to apache httpd.conf and listen to port something else. Also httpd.conf may be blocking access from outside. By default it doesnt. Also do you have a static IP. I am sure you are giving them your static ip not the local static ip such as 192.168.XXX.XXX . Also if you have IIS running on the same server it may be blocking or taking over http request.
