Hello,

Ever since i installed wamp whenever my computer tries to shutdown or go into standby it freezes. i've tried keeping the server running on shutdown, turned off and even turned off and exited but still the same thing. any ideas folks?

You have an application running that wont close when Windows tells it to.

Alt,Ctrl,Del and look at your running processes.
I recommend reformatting your computer. That always solves the problem.

i don't think any other programs are the problem - it was working fine untill i installed wamp. what process names does wamp server. i tried alt-ctrl-del but couldn;t see anything unsual. i dont think i need to reformat - its a near new pc.

Ok - Try manually stopping Apache from your wamp control panel.
Look at your processes in task manager when you Alt/Ctrl/Del.
End processes like Apache, MySQLd and wampserver.

Now close your PC down like you normally would.

If it shuts down with no problems then it was one of those you closed manually.
Otherwise - Its a virus/spyware.

Hey,

So i checked for virii and the like - nothing. Did a windows restore to a few days before wamp was installed and on restart it stuck again. Powered off manually then changed my network settings back to my home network (not my uni settings), restarted and it did it fine smiling smiley

Thanks for the help anyway, ill see what happens if i install wamp again
