Changed Password but phpmyadmin

I got the MySQL password changed thru the Console ...but when I try to access the database thru phpmyadmin I get the following response
#1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)
Site Opens once I changed the password in the config.php to the one I changed in the Console...but try editing the password in config.inc.php ...restarted the service and to no avail still wont connect to the database thru phpmyadmin...any help will be appreciated
